Statoil starts Skuld flows

Statoil has started production at the Skuld field off Norway only three years after its discovery, making it the fastest of the Norwegian state oil company's fast-track developments.

The Norwegian Sea field's two discoveries, Fossekall and Dompap, are being developed as a subsea tieback to the Norne floating production, storage and offloading vessel at a cost of Nkr10 billion ($1.7 billion).

Statoil said the field holds estimated recoverable resources of 90 million barrels of oil equivalent, 90% of which is oil and the remainder gas.

Skuld is the fourth fast-track project to be brought on stream by Statoil and will account for 45% of additional production from such projects set to be launched this year.
