Pinecrest posts profits rise

Cause to celebrate: Canadian player Pinecrest saw its profits jump in 2012

Calgary-based Pinecrest Energy saw profits rise in 2012 as revenues rose on the back of increased production.

The company's net income for the 12 months to 31 December totalled C$32.1 million (US$31.4 million), up from 2011's profit of just C$8.4 million.

The rise in profits came as revenue from oil and gas sales more than doubled to C$98.2 million in 2012, up from C$46.8 million a year earlier.

Helping lift revenue was a 133% rise in production which averaged 3142 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2012.

Boosting production was a 100% drilling success rate in 2012, with a total of 39 horizontal oil wells drilled during the year.
