Ready to kick off: Fastnet will start gathering 3D seismic off Ireland next month

UK-listed company Fastnet Oil & Gas has firmed up an $18 million contract with seismic player CGG Veritas as it looks to find a farm-in partner for its acreage in the Celtic Sea, off Ireland.

As previously reported, Fastnet chose CGG earlier this year as the preferred seismic contractor to carry out a number of 3D shoots in Celtic Sea.

On Tuesday, Fastnet confirmed it had executed the contract with CGG which will see the latter gather 1710 square kilometres of 3D seismic starting from mid-April.

CGG will us the Veritas Vantage survey vessel to gather 510 square kilometres of 3D data over the Deep Kinsale prospect, which lies beneath the producing Kinsale Head gas field.
