Strikes: Tag reports more Sidewinder success

Canadian explorer Tag Oil reported continued success at its onshore Sidewinder project in the Taranaki basin of New Zealand.

The Sidewinder-A5 and Sidewinder-A6 step-out wells were "consistent with the original four Sidewinder discovery wells".

Both step-outs "encountered similar-quality reservoir sands" within the Mt Messenger formation at a depth of about 2000 metres, the company said in a statement. It gave no further details of the latest discovery.

The wells are part of Tag's 13-well drilling programme planned for this year on the Sidewinder prospect. The initial Sidewinder discovery was made almost two years ago.

Tag is currently drilling the Sidewinder-A7 step-out, with the Sidewinder-A8 to follow.
