Gold Point seeks Shannon gas pay

By Upstream staff

Vancouver-based minnow Gold Point Energy said work had started on a five-well appraisal at the 63,500-acre South Cedar Creek Anticline Project in Harding County, South Dakota.

Gold Point said the project aimed to extend two recent natural gas discoveries in the Shannon sandstone at a depth of about 1600 feet. The discoveries tested at a combined rate of about 650,000 cubic feet per day, it said.

The company said the five wells would test targets identified in seismic analysis of the area. A single well would also test a suspected oil or gas deposit in the Muddy sandstone at about 4000 feet.

The project is operated by San Antonio-based Spyglass Cedar Creek, with a 52.5% interest. Gold Point holds the remaining interest.
