By Upstream staff

US oil and gas services giant Halliburton said it had opened a training centre in Tyamen, Russian, in co-operation with a local university.

The centre, Halliburton's 12th regional training facility, is operated jointly with the Tyamen State Oil & Gas University. It is intended to develop the professional and technical skills of Halliburton employees working in Europe and Eurasia, the company said.

Halliburton said training of the centre's first students began in February. The facility is equipped with classrooms, a laboratory and videoconferencing facilities to allow trainees to communicate with Halliburton employees around the world.
