Tasmanian exploration extended

By Upstream staff

The Tasmanian Minister of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources has extended a special exploration license by five years for Australia's Great South Land Minerals.

The deal will benefit US independent Empire Energy, which is currently in the process of acquiring Great South.

Empire's president and chairman Malcolm Bendall said that over 10 drilling targets have been identified on the Tasmanian acreage owned by Great South.

"We intend to pursue an aggressive drilling program buoyed by the report funded by the federal government in conjunction with the University of Tasmania," Bendall said.
