Cargotec’s offshore cargo business MacGregor has landed a contract from South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries for a pair of active heave-compensated (AHC) subsea cranes.
The 25-tonne and 100-tonne capacity cranes are to be fitted
on board a new 160-metre heavy construction vessel being built at the yard for London-based,
Oslo-listed contractor Subsea 7 and due for delivery in July 2015.
The Finnish contractor said its units were equipped with advanced
offshore capabilities in load-handling and precision to carry out complex deep
and ultra deepwater offshore construction operations.
Earlier this month MacGregor secured a contract for six AHC
cranes from IHC Merwede to be installed on three pipe-laying support vessels
the Dutch yard is building for Subsea 7.
