An offshore drilling platform operating for Petrobras was partially evacuated after tilting but has since been stabilised, the Brazilian state operator was quoted as saying.
The incident occurred in the Campos basin of the coast of Rio de Janeiro at the SS-53 Noble Paul Wolff platform, Brazil’s Globonews reported.
A spokesperson for the Brazilian oil giant told Reuters that the platform had been stabilised and was not in any danger of sinking.
The spokesperson said all safety measures were being taken but declined to give any further details.
Noble confirmed the rig suffered a “ballast control incident” at around 1am
local time on Friday, adding that 77 non-essential personnel were evacuated
from the unit and there were no injuries.
