Global to test in Colombia

Colombian update: Global ready to test

Latin America-focused Global Energy Development is ready to carry out the Simiti test on the Catalina-1, with the workover rig on the way to site.

The rig is now on its way to the northern Magdalena Valley in Colombia to the company’s Bolivar association contract.

It is being transferred from the central Magdalena Valley area, with rigging up expected to be finished over the next week.

Key equipment to be used with the rig is currently being shipped from Houston to Colombia.

Global Energy Development managing director Stephen Voss said this was the company’s first stimulation test on any of the five Bolivar blocks.

“The Simiti test is focused on conventional sandstone sections that are known to be productive producers to the south of our Bolivar Block acreage,” he said.

“The company is hopeful that with modern stimulation techniques, the flow rates achieved nearby in the same formation can be enhanced in our Catalina-1 well Simiti test.”

Initial test results are expected in July.
