Protests ‘shut Sirte Oil HQ’

Protesters have forced the closure of the headquarters of Libya’s Sirte Oil, which operates a strategic oil port in the fractious North African country, according to a report.

It is unclear, however, is the action has lead to any disruption to operations or flows at Brega port.

Libya News Agency (Lana) reported that the Sirte headquarters were shut due to protesting action.

Port and pipeline infrastructure in Libya is regularly shut down due to protests and worker strikes.

Many ports in previously rebel-held territory to the east of the country are slowly coming back online as the government looks to ramp up production from a low base.
