Wood Group bags Shah Deniz 2 gig

London-listed services provider Wood Group Kenny has landed a subsea contract on the Shah Deniz 2 project, off Azerbaijan.

The £36 million ($60.3 million) call-off contract was awarded to Wood Group by BP under a 2007 global agreement and covers engineering and project management services for the subsea execute phase of Shah Deniz 2.

Wood Group has been carrying out work on the Shah Deniz project for BP since 2008, providing engineering support through the appraise, select and define phases of the project.

The $28 billion Shah Deniz 2 development will produce 16 billion cubic metres per annum of gas that will be transported to southern Europe via Tanap and TAP pipelines.

BP operates Shah Deniz on a 28.8% stake with partners Socar (16.7%) Statoil (15.5%), National Iranian Oil Company (10%), Total (10%), Lukoil (10%) and Turkish Petroleum (9%).
