The Mustang-2 well has been cased and suspended as a future Birkhead oil producer after intersecting 6.4 metres of net oil pay.
It was found updip of the Mustang-1 oil discovery.
About 12 metres of gross sands was intersected in the well, almost twice the thickness of the Mustang-1.
Joint venture partner Senex Energy announced the suspension of the well.
Beach started drilling the well on 2 May about 570 metres north-west of the first Mustang discovery and was drilled to a total depth of 1915 metres.
The operator holds a 40% interest in the well while Senex holds a 60% interest.
