BW wins Athena FPSO extension

Extension: BW Athena

BW Offshore has secured a valuable five-year extension with Ithaca Energy for use of the floating production, storage and offloading vessel on the Athena field off the UK.

The extension, for which a value was not disclosed, will kick in from the end of the current contract for the BW Athena FPSO in the second quarter of next year.

Ithaca has though the right to terminate the renewed contract on a rolling 12-month notice.

Meanwhile, Oslo-listed BW is also hoping to gain a further extension for its Abo FPSO, which is currently working for Eni subsidiary Agip off Nigeria on a short-term charter that expires at the end of June, with an option to extend it to the end of the year.
