Magseis in Oslo listing

Plumbing depths: Magseis with ocean-bottom seismic

Norwegian ocean-bottom seismic specialist Magseis was formally launched as a stocklisted company on Friday when its shares started trading on the Oslo bourse.

Chief executive Ivar Gimse said the listing “marks the start of a new growth phase for the company”, which currently operates a single purpose-built vessel, Artemis Athene,  as it targets more work in the growing ocean-bottom seismic market on producing fields.

The vessel has recently completed the Albatross and Varg surveys for Statoil and Talisman Energy, respectively, and has now started work on Statoil’s Oseberg and Gullfaks fields.

Operators are increasingly using ocean-bottom seismic technology to gain increased knowledge about the reservoir, facilitating more optimal placement of production wells, in order to boost recovery.
