TGS begins West Shetland shoot

Shetland bound: Polarcus Naila

Norwegian seismic contractor TGS has begun a further 3D seismic survey of the UK’s frontier West of Shetland region, covering the Quad 219 area.

TGS’s senior vice president for the eastern hemisphere Stein Ove Isaksen said the survey was the first of its kind in the waters covered.

The Asker-headquartered, Oslo-listed geophysical company said the industry-funding-supported shoot would cover 2500 square kilometres of the Brendan basin.

The Polarcus Naila will gather the data towing 12 streamers at 6000 metres cable length, with processed data available to clients in the fourth quarter.
