Houston offshore drilling contractor GlobalSantaFe (GSF) said today that US officials had asked it to expand an investigation of its west African operations to determine whether anti-corruption laws were broken.
"We voluntarily disclosed our internal investigation to the US Department of Justice and the US Securities & Exchange Commission and, at their request, have expanded our investigation to include the activities of our customs brokers in other west African countries and the activities of one customs broker worldwide," the company said in a quarterly filing with the US Securities & Exchange Commission.
The probe had originally focused on the company's dealings with reference to Nigeria.
