Stuart spuds Patron-1 probe

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Stuart Petroleum has spudded the Patron-1 well in the Cooper basin in South Australia, farm-in partner Magellan Petroleum reported.

Magellan said the well, the second under its PEL 93 farm-in agreement, would target the McKinley member of the Murta formation and the Birkhead formation, as well as secondary objectives in the Epsilon and Patchwarra formation.

The well has a planned total depth of 1800 metres and is expected to take 12 days to drill and test.

Magellan holds a 24.5% stake in the licence and is paying 49% of the drilling costs. Operator Stuart Petroleum holds a 36% interest, while Red Sky Energy holds 24.5% and Cooper Energy holds 15%.
