Round response pleases Norway
Norway has said it is pleased with the response to its Awards in Predefined Areas (APA) 2007 round.
The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy said 45 companies had applied for acreage on the Norwegian shelf and that awards would be due at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2008.
"I am pleased to see the extensive interest for exploration in the mature areas," said Norwegian Minister of Petroleum & Energy Aaslaug Haga. "This shows that our continental shelf is very competitive, seen from an international perspective."
"The APA system enables many small companies to quickly establish a business position at the NCS. This ensures a varied mix of companies operating in Norway. Nevertheless, I will underscore the importance of the large, established companies also participating in the exploration in mature areas," she said.
