Loon dives deeper at Jorf
Canada’s Loon Energy is to deepen its Bhayra Rigo-1 well on the Jorf permit in Tunisia after testing of a dolomite structure revealed only water and drilling fluids, partner Gallic Energy said today.
Loon said earlier this month it had halted drilling and had run casing to 1126 metres after striking the dolomite reef. Logging was delayed after it lost circulation on the well after reaching the layer.
Gallic said today the well would now be deepened by a further 300 metres to test an underlying reef structure.
The onshore Jorf permit covers more than 1 million acres in Tunisia.
