Tullow makes pay at Uganda appraisal

By Upstream staff

Uk and Ireland-listed Tullow Oil said today it had hit oil pay at its 100%-owned Mputa-4 appraisal well in Uganda’s Block 2.

Tullow said Mputa-4 reached a total depth of 1073 metres and hit three separate oil bearing zones with a total net pay of 15.4 metres.

Mputa-4 is the third and final well being drilled as part of the Kaiso-Tonya appraisal programme and has proved the lateral extent of oil bearing reservoirs across the region, Tullow said.

The company is currently running a 3D seismic in the area to help further determine the ultimate reserve potential.
