PA revs up at Linda-1

By Upstream staff

Oslo- and Stockholm-listed explorer PA Resources has completed drilling the Linda-1 exploration well at the Makthar permit in Tunisia, sying two intervals with potential hydrocarbons have been identified.

The well reached a total depth of 1880 metres, targeting Lower Cretaceous rocks. Two limestone intervals with potential moveable hydrocarbons were hit by the probe.

PA Resources is now preparing to test the intervals. Down-hole equipment has been installed, and testing will start as soon as the CTF-06 drilling rig has left the Linda well site.

Produced oil during the test will be shipped by truck to the Douleb field, about 40 kilometres north-east of Linda-1. Should tests be successful, production from the well could start immediately.

The rig will now be moved to the Serr aguia prospect which lies about 30 kilometres south-west of Linda-1, also in the Makthar permit, with a well due to spud within the next two weeks.

PA operates the Makthar permit through a subsidiary and has a working interest of 45%. Its partner, state-run ETAP holds the remaining 55%.
