Transmeridian cranks Alibek flows

By Upstream staff

Houston-based Transmeridian said it had resumed full production at its South Alibek field in Kazakhstan after slowing output in July to cut costs and due to gas flaring regulations.

Transmeridian chief executive Lorrie Oliver said production was back at the same levels as prior to the cutback. He said the company also had all the necessary permits to allow it to flare associated gas from the field.

Output was also being processed through the company’s recently completed central production facility at the field.

Production was curtailed in June as the company sought to cut costs as the company during a strategic review of its operations.

Transmeridian operates in Kazakhstan and southern Russia.
