Testing succees: at Beharra Springs
Oz duo joy at Beharra flow
Origin Energy and Arc Energy are delighted with the success of last week's gas appraisal well at the producing Beharra Springs field onshore Western Australia.
Arc managing director Eric Streitberg told corporatefile.com.au that the flow rate of 35 million cubic feet per day from the Beharra Springs-4 was "spectacular, and confirmed the presence of a separate compartment in the Beharra Springs field."
The well has been deepened and Streitberg said it looked like the flow rate "is well over what we have seen so far."
He added that the well is likely to hold reserves of between 10 billion and 20 billion cubic feet of gas, although this needs to be confirmed with extended production data.
"Given the very strong gas market in WA (Western Australia), this is obviously a great result and we will now have a very good look at the 3D seismic to see if there are any more of these hidden around Beharra and particularly up onto our acreage to the north," said Streitberg.
Partners in Block L11 in the Perth basin are operator Origin (67%) and Arc Energy (33%).
