Sibir pumps up Salym volumes

By Upstream staff

Sibir Energy has achieved record volumes at the Salym field in Western Siberia, saying today it is now producing more than 55,000 barrels of oil per day from the $1.4 billion development.

Salym, Sibir's 50:50 joint venture with Shell, is currently pumping 96,800 bpd, it added.

In a statement, Sibir boss Henry Cameron said: "Reaching the 55,000 bopd production milestone marks a 41% increase in Sibir equity production since the beginning of 2007 as the company closes in on its year-end production target."
