Scan back in action off Pakistan

By Upstream staff

Norwegian seismic player Scan Geophysical is preparing to get back to work on a 2D project off Pakistan for BP.

The MV Geo Searcher is being remobillised to finish the 9200 kilometre survey, which was suspended in July ahead of a monsoon.

“Both BP and GEMS requested suspension of the programme after acquisition of only 1500 kilometres of data in order to preserve and maintain previously-set quality standards for the seismic data that otherwise would have been negatively affected by the poor sea and wind conditions expected by the onset of the traditional monsoon season,” a company spokesman said.

The BP/GEMS Pakistan 2D programme will keep the Geo Searcher busy into the first quarter of next year. The vessel is also scheduled for three to four weeks of maritime docking for standard classing inspection and general maintance work during this period.
