Gas Natural signs up with Snam

By Upstream staff

Gas Natural said it has reached a deal with Italian player Snam Rete Gas which will see Snam build the pipelines to link linking the Spanish gas outfit's planned liquefied natural gas plants at Trieste and Taranto to Italy's grid.

The project, first presented in 2004, is still awaiting authorisation, a Thomson Financial report said.

In a statement, Gas Natural said it will require an investment of €1 billion ($1.3 billion).

The two plants will each have an estimated capacity of 8 billion cubic metres.
