Cantarell production up in September

By Upstream staff

Mexican state-run Pemex, which has been installing new subsea systems and implementing horizontal drilling to try and arrest a sharp decline in production from Cantarell, said output recovered to 1.4 million barrels per day in September.

Hurricanes whittled August production levels to 1.3 million bpd, Reuters said. But the output data was also the second-lowest Pemex has reported on a monthly basis so far this year, the news outlet said. Production at the field is down 130,000 bpd from January. Pemex has estimated output would plummet this year amid a double-digit decline.
