United Arab Emirates-based fabrication specialists Maritime Industrial Services (MIS) has cut first steel for a third newbuild jack-up drilling rig, worth $152 million.

The company said that the Freide & Goldman Design Super M2 unit, Hull 107, will be built at its Sharjah yard for KSAM2 Petrodrill Offshore.

The jack-up is due for delivery in the first quarter of 2010.

MIS will shortly launch its first newbuild, Hull 104, which will be completed and commissioned at the MIS quayside for delivery scheduled in August next year.
