Tullow names Uganda date

By Upstream staff

UK-based Tullow Oil is planning to start pumping oil from its Ugandan assets in 2009, adding that it sees an upside for further exploration and development in the east African country.

"The objective is first oil in 2009," Andrew Windham, managing director for the London-based oil independent's Africa region, told the Africa Upstream 2007 oil conference in Cape Town.

Windham said the company was forecasting 4000 barrels of oil per day from its Ugandan fields, though he added that there was the potential for upside from its other projects there, Reuters said.
