Antrim lines up Fyne rig

By Upstream staff

North Sea player Antrim Energy said it had signed a rig contract for its Fyne drilling programme on Block 21/28, targeting the Eocene Middle Tay sandstone.

The deposits, tapped in 1986 by the Fyne discovery well, flowed oil at rates of up to 3600 barrels per day during initial testing, Antrim said.

Antrim said in a statement the drilling programme, which will include a pilot hole and at least two sidetracks, would be managed by AGR Peak Well Management. AGR previously managed its Causeway project in the UK Northern North Sea.

Details of the rig to be used in the project were not released.

Antrim is headquartered in Calgary with listings in both Toronto and London.
