Death toll tops 21 as Mexico's president and attorney general pledge far-reaching probe of country's worst offshore disaster for 25 years

Pemex under pressure after rig tragedy

Calderon said: "With my deepest sympathy and in the name of every Mexican I want to express my condolences (and) our solidarity with the families of Pemex's workers and the other companies, including those rescuers who died.

"This tragedy has moved the entire nation. All Mexicans are in mourning for the loss of these... heroic Mexicans."
