MEO Australia said today it had hired the seismic vessel Orient Explorer from Norway's Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) to run two sweeps across a number of permits on Australia's North West Shelf.
The vessel will shoot about 250 square kilometres of 3D data and 250 line kilometres of 2D data over MEO's Northwest Shelf permits WA-359-P, WA-360-P and WA-361-P, the company said.
The 3D seismic is scheduled to commence on or about 1 December 1 expected to require 17 days to complete.
The vessel will then be reconfigured to run the new 2D data.
MEO has also awarded a contract to reprocess approximately 600 square kilometres of existing 3D data to Dayboro Geophysical.
The data is part of the Rosie 3D survey acquired by Western Mining in 1997 and covers the large Zeus feature in WA-361-P.
MEO has a 60% operating interest in all three Northwest Shelf permits.
Its partners at WA-359-P are Cue Energy (20%) and Exoil (20%), while at permits WA-360-P and WA-361-P, MEO’s partners are Gascorp and Exoil, who both have a 20% interest in each permit.
