Syria sweep: for Gulfsands
Gulfsands begins Khurbet sweep
UK-listed Gulfsands Petroleum has began its 3D seismic programmes in Syria, shooting one sweep over the Khurbet East field and another in an exploration area to the south of the field.
Gulfsands said it had commenced a 160 square kilometre 3D seismic in Block 26 of the Khurbet East field.
The company said the seismic will assist in defining the limits of the field, allow for the location of development wells and provide additional data over adjacent leads.
Gulfsands said it was also running a further 240 square kilometres of 3D seismic data to the south of Khurbet East.
This data will evaluate previously identified exploration leads for developing drill-ready targets.
The seismic programmes are expected to be completed in January 2008 with processing and interpretation following during the first half of 2008.
