Scan hit by vessel delays

By Upstream staff

Norway’s Scan Geophysical said today delivery of the its three newbuildings would be delayed for three months due to capacity problems at India's ABG Shipyard.

Based on updated production schedules from ABG, the new delivery dates will be 30 June 2008, 30 September 2008 and mid February 2009.

Scan said ABG Shipyard had been impacted by capacity problems and increased lead time from its suppliers.

The yard had previously informed Scan that the subsequent delays would be caught up, but this is no longer possible, causing its building programmes to be delayed.

The three vessels are being purpose built for seismic data acquisition.

All vessels have a capacity to operate streamers of up to 10 kilometres each and all three can tow up to 10 streamers for high density surveys.
