Solana gets Juanambu green light
Calgary-based Solana Resources has received approval of commerciality for the Juanambu oilfield in southern Colombia's Guayuyaco Block and has now placed the Juanambu-1 discovery well on production.
Juanambu-1 is currently producing about 1400 barrels of oil per day, with 450 bpd net of royalty to Solana.
The field was discovered in the first quarter of 2007, tested in the second quarter of 2007 and an application for commerciality was submitted to Ecopetrol, the Colombian national oil company, in the third quarter of 2007.
Solana has a 35% interest in the Juanambu oilfield, alongside operator Gran Tierra Energy (35%) and Ecopetrol (30%).
Solano also said it had commenced drilling at the Cocodrilo-1 wel in the Catguas Block, northeastern Colombia.
The well is expected to take three weeks to drill with testing potentially to follow.
Cocodrilo-1 is the sixth well in Solana’s 2007 six-well exploration programme, and the second of the two-well program meSolana is undertaking on the Catguas Block.
To date, Solana has had three successes in this campaign including Tres Curvas-1 on the Catguas Block.
Solana is the operator of the Catguas Block with a 100% working interest.
