Maintenance shuts in Oman flows

By Upstream staff

Oman will shut in a third of capacity for a week of scheduled maintenance at the liquefied natural gas plant in Qalhat in April and again for 18 days of work in August, an Oman LNG executive said today.

The plant has long-term supply contracts to South Korea, Japan and India.

One of three production lines at the plant will be shut down for inspection in April, Oman LNG's head of maintenance Mohammed al-Nasseb told Reuters on the sidelines of an energy conference.

Another train will shut for 18 days in August, he added.

Oman's Qalhat plant has capacity to produce just under 10 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year.

Oman LNG is 51% owned by the government of Oman, while Shell holds 30%. The rest is split between six other companies.
