Southern success for Antrim

By Upstream staff

Calgary-based Antrim Energy said the Los Patos-1011 in Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego region had tested at rates of up to 1000 barrels of oil per day and was now on production at 755 bpd.

The company said the first two wells of its drilling programme in the area, started in September, had stabilised at rates between 40 and 60 bpd, while a fourth well was awaiting completion.

A fifth well is expected to spud next week, it said. Gathering and production facilities in the area were also being expanded.

Antrim owns a 25.78% stake in the project.

The company also said the first well drilled on the northern Capricorn licence in Argentina under its 50% farm-in with Gold Point Energy had been plugged and abandoned. A second well is currently being drilled.

Meanwhile, two wells have been successfully completed and tied in at the company’s 70% owned Medianera play in central Argentina.
