Jack-up hits the water in Middle East

By Upstream staff

United Arab Emirates-based Maritime Industrial Services (MIS) has successfully loaded out and launched what the company claims is the first offshore jack-up drilling rig to be built in the Middle East.

The SeaWolf Oritsetimeyin, originally contracted by Norwegian Mosvold Jackup in 2006, is the first of two jack-ups being built by MIS for Nigerian drilling company SeaWolf Oilfield Services in a contract worth $254 million.

The rig - a Friede & Goldman Super Mod 2 design - is scheduled for delivery at the end of August next year.

The SeaWolf Oritsetimeyin will be completed back at the MIS quayside.
