Tethys cheers Kyzyloi flows

By Upstream staff

Canadian independent Tethys Petroleum said it had started commercial gas flows at its Kyzyloi gas field in Kazakhstan, marking the company’s first commercial gas production.

Tethys said the production was also the first from a dry gas well in Kazakhstan with no state involvement.

Tethys said it had pumped first gas from the field into the Bukhara-Urals trunkline via its own 35-mile (56-kilometre) spur.

Company chief executive David Robson said: “With this step Tethys has come of age as a gas producer, and I look forward to further expansion of gas production from this project and further development of Tethys' gas business in Kazakhstan.”
