Energy Searcher wraps Galoc drilling

By Upstream staff

Australia's Nido Petroleum said the drillship Energy Searcher had finished sinking two production wells at the Galoc oil field off the Phillippines by the drillship Energy Searcher.

The company said the project's lead partner, Galoc Production Company, had drilled a total of 11,346 metres in a pilot bore and two production wells. The Galoc-3 and Galoc-4 wells include horizontal production sections totaling 2900 metres.

Nido said the Galoc-3 well had spudded on 7 October last year and the drilling phase of the project was wrapped up when 5.5-inch predrilled liner was run on the same well yesterday.

The company said the Energy Searcher would complete the wells and install subsea trees and control equipment over the next three weeks.

Following completion, the floating production, storage and offloading vessel Rubicon Intrepid is expected to be installed on the field in February.

Galoc Production Company is partnering with Nido as well as Alcorn Gold, Forum Energy, Petro-Energy, Philodrill and Oriental Petroleum.
