Impress warns of Growler wet

By Upstream staff

Perth-based Impress Energy said infrastructure work at its Growler Oilfield Development on PEL 104 in Queensland had been slowed by rain, and that the site was likely to be flooded within four weeks due to heavy downpours in the region.

Impress said three days work had been lost on building access roads for the facility. It also warned that the entire site was likely to be cut off within four weeks and the entire site was likely to be inundated by up to a metre of water when floodwaters moving down Coopers Creek reached the area.

Impress said testing on the site suggested production of 300 barrels of oil per day was possible from the Growler-1 and Growler-2 wells. It said its consultants had suggested the Growler field contained about 7.7 million barrels of oil in place, of which about 1.6 million barrels was recoverable.

The company said it would suggest to its joint venture partners that further wells and facilities be developed, with the expectation that the field would produce about 750 bpd of oil.

Impress holds a 40% stake in the Growler project, together with operator Victoria Petroleum (40%) and Roma Petroleum (20%).
