Moscow and Kiev cut out the middleman

Russia and Ukraine agreed to axe gas trade intermediaries, with Gazprom boss Alexei Miller saying that all business will now be carried out by the pair's state-run energy players.

Miller told reporters Gazprom and Ukraine's Naftohaz Ukrainy will set up two 50:50 ventures to import gas to Ukraine and sell it inside the country.

Gazprom-imposed gas traders RosUkrEnergo and UkrGasEnergo had been previously responsible for the job.
