Odim sets sail with AHTS job

By Upstream staff

Norway's Odim has won a Nkr50 million ($9 million) order to deliver automated handling systems for two anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS).

The vessels are to be built at Aker Yards in Aukra, western Norway, for the DOF shipping company.

Delivery is scheduled from the first quarter of of next year to the third quarter of 2010.

Two sets of Odim AHF anchor handling frames account for a substantial part of the contract. The yard has a cancel term until the end of the year for the Odim AHF on the last vessel.

The order also embraces two sets of Odim's integrated shark jaw and towing pins, which are designed to both handle and lock chain and wire cables during anchorhandling operations.
