Norwegian producer DNO International posted weaker-than-expected operating profit for the fourth quarter of 2007, adding that production would not rise this year as its Iraqi operations still lacked an export licence.
Earnings before interest and tax came in at Nkr65 million ($11.9 million) in the fourth quarter, against Nkr62 million in the same quarter in 2006.
It missed all forecasts in a Reuters poll of eight analysts, whose estimates ranged from Nkr118 million to Nkr222 million.
DNO said it continued to deliver oil from its Tawke field in north Iraq by truck, while building up infrastructure to export the oil to Turkey once the group gains an export licence. DNO gave no guidance over the potential timing of this.
In presentation material, DNO said it would produce an average of 6000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from Iraq during 2008 and 15,000 boed in total - down from 15,762 boed in the fourth quarter.
Four analysts in the Reuters poll had on average expected DNO's 2008 production to rise to 26,857 boed, with a range from 17,703 boed to 30,750 boed. DNO said its output for the first quarter of this year would be around 16,000 boed.
DNO also said output from Yemen, its other production hub, would also fall to some 9000 barrels per day in 2008 from 11,637 bpd last year.
The company set its capital expenditure for the year at Nkr400 million, with Nkr250 million of that earmarked for its Iraqi operations, where it plans to drill up to five more exploration wells.
