Bass Lite fanfare for Mariner

By Upstream staff

Houston-based Mariner Energy has started production at its Bass Lite deep-water project on Atwater Valley Block 426 in the Gulf of Mexico, the company said.

Mariner said it had started production of about 60 million cubic feet of natural gas equivalent per day from the field last week. The company said production was limited while the project’s topsides systems are upgraded. It said it expected to ramp output up to full capacity later this year.

The field is tapped by two wells in about 6750 feet of water, which are tied back to the Devil’s Tower spar via a 56-mile (90-kilometre) pipeline.

The company said the field used the second-longest subsea tieback in the Gulf of Mexico

Mariner operates the project with a 42.2% working interest.
