On the floor: at work in Colombia
Costayaco-2 flows for Solana
Calgary-based Solana Resources said the Costayaco-2 step-out exploration well on the Chaza Block in Colombia’s Putumayo basin had tested at more than 6600 barrels of oil per day from 119 feet of perforations.
Solana said the well’s operator, Gran Tierra Energy, was completing the well, with output being piped to the nearby Costayaco-2 loading facility for trucking to existing pipeline structure.
It said the well was being tested over five zones in two formations after being drilled to a depth of 8600 feet.
The company said the Costayaco-1 discovery well was continuing to produce at about 3500 bpd from the Cabellos and Villeta T reservoirs, limited by trucking capacity.
Gran Tierra operates the Costayaco-2 well with a 50%, with Solana holding the remaining stake.
Solana also said drilling had started at the Primavera-1 well on the Guachira Block on the Llanos basin in Colombia. The well is expected to take 21 days to drill. Solana operates the well with a 70% working interest.
