High dayrates boost Ensco profits

Increased dayrates for the fourth quarter of 2007 have helped Ensco International increase net income for the quarter by 13% year-on-year, to $238.6 million on revenues of $529.2 million.

Average dayrates for the company’s jackup fleet increased by 21% to $140,900 in the fourth quarter compared with the third quarter of 2007.

Net income for the year came in at $992 million on revenues of $2,143.8 million, compared with net income of $769.7 million on revenues of $1,813.5 million in 2006.

The company’s backlog also grew during the year and stood at $3.9 billion in early 2008, compared with $3.2 billion in early 2007.
