Shell turns on Nembe Creek taps

By Upstream staff

Shell has finished repairs to the Nembe Creek pipeline which is connected to the Bonny Light oil terminal in Nigeira, saying that the link is now carrying crude to the plant.

Earlier this month Shell declared force majeure on Bonny Light exports and stopped shipments from the terminal to repair three pipeline leaks, which were first discovered in January.

"The Nembe Creek pipeline has been repaired and oil started flowing," a Shell spokesman told Reuters. "Force majeure is still in place."

He declined to specify when the repair work was finished or at what volume oil was flowing now.

The affected pipeline feeds about 130,000 barrels per day to the Bonny Light export terminal.
