Total leaves door open for Gazprom
French oil giant Total could agree to technology transfers with Russian gas monopoly Gazprom for the second and third development phases of the giant Arctic Shtokman gas field.
"Yes, Gazprom will be able, if it wants, to operate alone on the following development phases, but we will do everything to continue this adventure together," said Total's chief executive Christophe de Margerie.
Last month Gazprom officially set up a joint operating company to develop Shtokman's first phase together with Total and Norway's StatoilHydro, Reuters reported.
